Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC): Côte d’Ivoire will benefit from a grant of $300 million.

The Government of Côte d’Ivoire has been eligible for the CDF “Compact Development Fund” of the Millennium Challenge Corporation. In this regard, it should ultimately benefit from a grant of three hundred (300) million USD to implement the Regional Energy Compact. The projects identified and selected, following the data collection phase from June to October 2023, are submitted to various stakeholders in the energy sector to be consolidated in the continued formulation process.

It is therefore in anticipation of the signing of the memorandum of understanding in March 2024 that a delegation of MCC legal experts, led by Ms. Margaret Williams, Head of Delegation, and Aliyah Dash, conducted a working visit from October 23 to 27, 2023, to the technical formulation unit of the Regional Energy Compact Program (CFPCR)-MCC in Côte d’Ivoire.

This mission follows the numerous exchanges of emails between Master SIDIBE GABRIEL, legal expert of the CFPCR, and his counterparts from the MCC on decision-making issues, including fiscal and protective measures, the legal form of the entity responsible for implementing the project, its training, structure, and governance framework, the various exemptions in the implementation of the Energy compact, regarding working conditions, the consideration of guidelines for combating fraud and corruption, and the protection of data and the privacy of workers. After a fulfilling stay, CFPCR, the local project coordination, offered a farewell lunch to the delegation of MCC lawyers at a hotel complex in the seaside city of GRAND-BASSAM.
