Transversal Activities

Social analysis

  • Provide strategic and technical leadership to the technical team, stakeholders and the MCC, with a view to analyzing and understanding the social, cultural, political and economic structures and dynamics likely to affect the viability and success of the Compact.
  • Ensures that activities to increase employment opportunities for men, women and young people are taken into account in Compact projects
  • Implement a quality control framework to monitor and evaluate the social analysis considerations of each project, including the resolution of milestones, gaps and challenges.

Environmental and social performance

  • Support for the selection of Compact activities
  • Environmental and social classification of Compact activities and identification of required safeguard instruments
  • Preparation, implementation and monitoring of actions recommended by the various safeguard instruments

Monitoring and evaluation (M&E)

  • Development of detailed project logics for proposed investments, including problem statements, outcomes, short- and medium-term results, project objectives and underlying assumptions and risks, in close collaboration with the Compact development team
  • Identification of key indicators for measuring expected results and establishment and documentation of baseline data.
  • Identification and integration of any anticipated M&E data requirements into the development of feasibility studies or preliminary design work that may be undertaken during the Compact development process

Economic analysis

  • Support for the economic justification of all potential projects
  • Development of an analytical framework in close collaboration with MCC economists; collection of all required data and support in calculating the economic rate of return (ERR) of proposed projects
  • Support for the development of an assessment of the economic characteristics of the proposed projects, and for the description of the impact of the proposed projects on the intended beneficiaries, particularly poor households and disadvantaged groups, including women
  • Support to technical specialists of the Compact development team on the development of potential projects, including problem diagnosis(es), design and feasibility studies, taking into account relevant evidence gathered
