MCC FORUM ON SOCIAL ANALYSIS : AN IVORIAN DELEGATION VISITS WASHINGTON DC.
In execution of its mission, the Comité de Formulation du Compact Régional Energie en Côte d’Ivoire, (CFPCR-MCC), participated through Ms. BAKAYOKO Marie Véronique, the Gender and Social Inclusion Expert (GIS) and four other experts, in the Gender and Social Inclusion Forum (GIS 2024 Forum) organized by the Department of Social Affairs of the U.S. Congress, at the headquarters of the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) from September 11 to 17, 2024 in Washington DC.
The aim of the forum was to build a community of practice for gender mainstreaming and social inclusion, while fostering learning and collaboration among experts (SIGs) who will provide technical assistance to their peers.
The opening of the session was marked by two speeches, including a welcome address by Ms. Jennifer Windsor, Senior Director and Head of Gender Practices, to introduce the program, and one by Ms. Alice Albright, President and CEO of the MCC, who set out the framework and expectations of the meeting.
The ceremony brought together some 51 participants, including 34 from 15 MCC countries (Belize, Benin, Cape Verde, Côte d’Ivoire, Gambia, Indonesia, Kosovo, Lesotho, Malawi, Mongolia, Mozambique, Nepal, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Timor, Togo, Zambia) and 16 members of the MCC gender team.
During the meeting, participants had their skills strengthened with regard to new initiatives, policies and orientations, and learned from their peers about different methods and techniques for tackling the challenges associated with the design and implementation of MCC country program activities.
The closing ceremony of the GIS 2024 Forum, chaired by Mrs. Alice Albright, was marked by the Celebration of MCC’s General Policy on Gender Equality and Social Inclusion on Capitol Hill, and the official launch of two projects: access to water in Mongolia and agricultural development in Zambia.
In addition, on the bangs of the Forum’s activities, the Ivorian delegation was able to visit the Capitol, the seat of the American Congress, where it was enriched by the historical and cultural heritage of the United States of America (USA).
