IMPROVING PROJECT GOVERNANCE: THE MCC SHARES ITS VISION WITH THE COLLEGE OF COMMUNICATORS

IMPROVING PROJECT GOVERNANCE: THE MCC SHARES ITS VISION WITH THE COLLEGE OF COMMUNICATORS
Non classé

Washington DC, the heart of American administration and high finance, hosted from October 26 to 31, 2023, at the United States, home of the institution, the annual college of communicators of the Millennium Challenge Corporation. This large gathering of exchanges and reflections, held in the land of Uncle Sam, involved participation from several countries benefiting from the Millennium Challenge Account (MCA), Threshold programs, and compacts currently being formulated. Notable mentions include Senegal, Benin, Mongolia, Nepal, Malawi, Togo, Niger, Mauritania, Zambia, Lesotho, Sierra Leone, Belize, the Solomon Islands, and Ivory Coast…

A high-level delegation, led by Mr. Abraham Mian, Director of Communication of the MCA, and Dr. YAO Mathias, Communication Expert and Stakeholder Engagement of the Regional Energy Compact Program Formulation Technical Unit (CFPCR) in Côte d’Ivoire, participated in these proceedings.

This convention aimed to promote learning and collaboration within the MCC College of Communicators, MCA, and compact development teams, which are responsible for leading their respective teams in communication, developing public relations strategies, and designing creative avenues to spark engagement or support from stakeholders in MCC activities.

Unanimously, participants acknowledged that efforts have been made to improve the governance of projects. However, there is an urgent need for targeted communication regarding funded projects. To achieve this, several activities, including thematic panels, design and creation workshops on audiovisual, printed, and digital communication, and experience sharing, were communicated by MCC members, some participants, and guests.

It is worth noting that the ability of everyone to communicate the shared history of the MCC is just as important as their ability to develop and implement programs to maximize the benefits of investments.

To this end, it is the responsibility of communicators to emphasize a certain approach. How these achievements were made, how to share the lessons learned with participants for greater visibility. Ultimately, communication should be a crucible for building trust and fostering hope within the people. This is why, in her welcome message, Alice Albright, Chief Executive Officer, emphasized the MCC’s new commitment. It involves reducing poverty around the world through growth, refining new directions by focusing on priority messages related to inclusion and gender, climate and climate action, blended finance in the context marked by the celebration of the organization’s 20th anniversary.

On the sidelines of the work, the participants conducted a working visit to the Press Relations service of the White House, participated in a gift-giving ceremony for the children of the MCC staff at the closing of the convention. Additionally, a visit to the museums of the State of Washington DC.
