Implementation of the Compact Works in Abidjan: Vice-President Jonathan Richard

The Vice President of the Millennium Challenge Corporation, responsible for Infrastructure and the private sector, Jonathan Richart, stayed from September 14 to 18 on the shores of the Ebrié Lagoon in Abidjan.

The Representative of the American Agency for International Development was in Ivorian territory to genuinely assess the progress of existing compacts. These include Education and Transport. Most importantly, he was also there to review the one currently being formulated in the Energy sector.

Vice-President Jonathan Richart took advantage of this visit to hold a working session with the Technical Formulation Cell of the Regional Energy Compact Project (CFPCR). It should be noted that this local team consists of 12 experts and a National Coordinator who presented their greetings to their host.

During the exchanges and reflections, the local team presented its roadmap within the said cell, and each expert provided a brief summary of their academic background and professional experiences. Inquiring about the progress of the formulation of the Regional Energy Compact, he congratulated Ms. Issié Yvonne GUEYE, the National Coordinator, and the team for the milestones achieved. He also offered recommendations for developing an executive work plan to accelerate the processes, particularly the drafting of the terms of reference for the feasibility studies of the projects and the recruitment of additional personnel.

Furthermore, he indicated that the formulation will extend well beyond March 31, 2024.

At the end of the meeting, the National Coordinator submitted a mid-term assessment note of the formulation to Vice President RICHART Jonathan. It should be noted that RICHART Jonathan was received in audience by Mr. Mamadou Sangafowa COULIBALY, Minister of Mines, Oil, and Energy. Their discussions focused on issues related to the signing of the Decree for the creation of the formulation unit, its installation, and the equipment of the formulation unit.
