Assistant Secretary of State Christopher Landau reaffirms the United States’ partnership with Côte d’Ivoire and signs the Regional Energy Compact: a strategic turning point for energy integration in West Africa.
During an official ceremony held on September 10, 2025, in Washington, Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau, alongside the Ambassador of Côte d’Ivoire to the United States, Ibrahima TOURE, and leaders of the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), signed the Regional Energy Compact.
Led by the CFPCR-MCC in collaboration with the MCC Regional Team and stakeholders in the electricity sector in Côte d’Ivoire, this strategic Compact strengthens Côte d’Ivoire’s position as an energy hub in the West African subregion.
The signing of this agreement will be finalized by the Minister of Finance and Budget at a ceremony scheduled for September 16, 2025, in Abidjan after the closure of the bilateral compact.
