APPROPRIATION OF PROCUREMENT PROCEDURES: MCC EXPERTS IN CONCLAVE IN WASHINGTON
After the College of Communicators and IT Specialists in October 2023, it is now the turn of the Procurement Experts of the MCA, Threshold, and Compact Formulation Programs. These experts gathered to familiarize themselves with the specific procurement procedures, guidelines, and other mechanisms related to projects financed by the American Agency for International Development, the MCC.
Held from December 4 to 8, 2023, at FRANKLIN COURT in Washington DC, the headquarters of this Institution, this conference gathered all individuals involved in the procurement of projects funded by the MCC. It was organized by the MCC Compact Operations Department.
The objective of this important meeting was, among other things, to inform and upgrade all stakeholders involved in the procurement process, with a view to the effective implementation of these changes starting in January 2024.
This major gathering of exchanges and reflections brought together around sixty experts from fourteen countries. During the proceedings, the panel of experts revealed part of the celebration of the 20th anniversary of their organization. This ceremony, which is intended to be festive, is planned for this year, 2024.
In order to give more autonomy to the MCA and also to improve procurement procedures, the MCC has revised its Guidelines as well as its bidding documents and procedures manual.In this regard, more than fifteen themes were presented by consultants and MCC experts. Among the important communications, it is worth noting the welcoming address, the presentation of the agenda, and the daily summary of the proceedings by Prabhat GARG, Chairman of the organizing committee of the college and Director of the Acquisition Program and the Practical Assistance Group; then the opening speech and the panel on “Doing Business with MCC” delivered by Vice President Mrs. Katerina NTEP; the presentation by the Vice President of the Compact Operations Department, Mr. Cameron ALFORD. He provided a mid-semester assessment of the seminar and made some observations on the proposed changes; finally, the closing panel of the CEO Mrs. Alice ALBRIGHT.
